Vince, I've got a 1999 Savage - completely stock so far. Where we live - Western NC at 3,500ft, most mornings are quite cool. Though the Suzi is garaged all night, and I let her warm up at least 5-10 minutes (as long as it takes to pull on road gear) she still bucks and hesitates a bit on that first 300-500 yards. This does not happen in the afternoons coming back from work. I too got the same explanation from bike "experts" that it is characteristic of a single to take a while to warm up. I confess to not knowing the bike well enough yet to seek a remedy, since she runs fine after this.
Many years ago I lived in the back country in S. Cal. Had a friend with a very spirited horse. Though the horse was broke, it was normal and expected that the first few minutes of any ride, especially in the morning that horse would buck & rear, then settle down and behave - friend said "that's the sign of a good horse"!
